If you are moving into or out of a rental property check out the Residential Tenancies Authority link https://www.rta.qld.gov.au/. This will assist with legislation, forms, disputes and useful contacts before starting during or ending a tenancy. Prior to moving into a rental property make sure you complete the entry condition report. Provide as much detailed information and photos as possible. The property manager must prepare, sign and provide a copy at the start of the tenancy. It is an offence not to do so. The completed and signed report must be returned to the property manager within 3 days. Prior to ending a tenancy make sure you advise the property manager.
Regardless of whether you are renting or purchasing a new property, you need a really good understanding of what is involved. Of course, if you get it wrong you could be paying for services at both properties. Not the housewarming gift you want. Moving may be an ideal time to consider switching energy providers especially if you have noticed the bill creeping up or the service is not up to your liking.
TV and Internet
Again, planning ahead is the key to avoid moving into a dead zone. Make sure you notify your provider at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure the services are disconnected and reconnected on a required day.
Of course, if moving into a new property you will need to find out about recycling services, order bins and find out the collection days. If moving into an existing property you may want to have the bin replaced with a larger type or arrange for additional recycling bins.
