Moving in the rain.
Another interesting and busy day here at Brisbane Removalists
Yes, another interesting and busy day here at Brisbane Removalists. Well, I thought I had today well planned for all of our teams when I left the office late yesterday afternoon. All of the teams had a full schedule for the day. Typical busy Friday or so I thought as we knew we would be moving in the rain.
Today’s jobs were all booked days and sometimes weeks ago when the weather was fine. Some juggling and customer contact is vital on a day like today. Communication is certainly the key.
Early start
Earlier this morning just before 6:00 am I had a call from a client wanting to change his booking. His booking was for today and he wanted to change to Monday due to the rain. Unfortunately, I had to give him the bad news we are already fully booked next week. Consequently, this would not be possible.
Once I explained to him that yes, the rain is certainly an inconvenience when moving, our teams are well experienced. Dealing with all situations is our speciality. Rain included. Hence, the job went ahead today. By the way, here is an article we published on Moving in the rain that I suggest you read.
What happens when you don’t book Brisbane Removalists?
By 10.30 am I had 2 clients calling and asking if we could help them out today or tomorrow. As the removalists company, they had booked was either not turning up due to the rain or wanted to reschedule to next week? This number grew to 5 by 2.30 pm, all with similar stories.
Another client called late this afternoon in tears as the company she had booked for a midday arrival finally turned up at 3.30 pm. Only to find the truck was way too small to fit all of her possessions in after providing an itemized list of items to move. Their response was to apologize and then leave? 2 of these jobs were booked with the same company.
Consequently, when you book with these so-called ‘cheap or companies that make out they are Brisbane Removalists’ this is what happens.
Wish we could name and shame!

Assisting clients pre-packing their valuable items are becoming more and more popular. I guess this is due to people being very time-poor. Here is some more information on our packing service.
To save money some clients ask if many of the items such as the boxes can be left in the garage. No problem for us. We try and provide clients with as much helpful information during the booking process and prior to moving. The aim is, of course, to save them time, money and stress.

Delays due to moving in the rain
Whilst our teams are all experienced in moving the client’s possessions in the rain, of course, the rain certainly delays the progress. As an example, here is a text message I received from 1 of our teams when asked if they were getting much rain on their job.
“Yeah it is pouring here at present and we have had to stop. It’s slowing now so getting done what we can while we can”
And yet another text message we got.
“ Been raining on and off all morning and slowing us down”
Also,
“can you let the next client know we will be late because of the rain”.
Safety is our number 1 priority on ALL jobs even on rainy day moves. By the way, safety actually costs no more at Brisbane Removalists. A well-written Article I certainly suggest you read prior to making any booking with any company.
Planning is the key
Even after many years in this Industry it still astounds me the number of people that call, text or fill in an Online Quote They do this 1-2 days prior to moving! Today alone I have had 13 calls from clients wanting a price on a job either for tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday. One lady told me she was very organised and was getting in early. Next Friday?
