Let’s be honest, do you really have the skills and equipment required to move yourself? Depending on the size and the items you are moving you would at least need a trailer or truck. Either may be required to move the larger type items such as beds, mattress, fridge, washing machine, boxes etc.
Then you have to go and hire the truck or trailer. Have you ever driven a truck or backed a trailer? You will also need a healthy and fit assistant and then hope they turn up on the day. Do either have experience moving large items such as a couch or washing machine without damaging it or the walls?
Imagine dropping your new TV? Removalist blankets, pads, straps and a trolley will no doubt also be required to make the job easier and safer. Property Settlement
Unfortunately, settlement times are not always accurate and can work against stress free booking. Regularly we have clients requesting to move first up in the morning. They have been led to believe their settlement will occur at 10:00am. Only to find out the day before of course, it will not actually happen until after 2:00pm.
Then totally stressed they frantically call and ask for a later arrival time to avoid the additional cost of having the removalist sitting and waiting. We obviously do our best to assist but unfortunately, we are usually booked out and not always possible. For a stress-free booking, please confirm your settlement times prior to booking.

Access
Many high-rise apartments have impressive views with access usually by lifts or stairs. Please remember that all of your furniture and possessions will need to be moved through these when moving in or out. This, of course, adds additional time to any move. Many times, when moving a client into their new unit we discover the king bed, wall unit etc. will not actually fit in the lift.
It also will not go up the 8 flights of dogleg fire escape stairs. When organising a stress-free booking with the removalist please let them know of any issues you are aware of with access. This can include, the property is in a school zone and access is not possible at certain times.
The truck has to park a long distance from the property or there is an extremely steep driveway. If the move is a larger type this may mean an extra mover will certainly help and prove to be more cost-effective.
