A New Government Agenda for Housing Reform

What the 2025 Election Means for Housing Policy

With a bold mandate following the 2025 federal election, the new government has placed affordable housing initiatives at the centre of its national policy framework. The aim? To reduce housing stress, improve supply, and ensure homeownership is within reach for more Australians.

This marks a significant shift from previous governments. Through a multi-pronged approach—ranging from accelerated building targets to shared-equity schemes—the plan targets both urban and regional growth corridors. South East Queensland (SE QLD) is one of the key regions set to benefit from this new direction.

The National Housing Accord, which aims to deliver 1.2 million new homes over the next five years, will rely heavily on partnerships between federal, state, and local governments. These homes are intended to meet rising demand while relieving pressure on the overburdened property and rental markets.

Meanwhile, the Housing Australia Future Fund will finance 30,000 new affordable and social homes across Australia, with at least 1,200 allocated to Queensland. These affordable housing initiatives are likely to fuel demand across SE QLD growth hubs such as Ipswich, Logan, and Caboolture.

Infrastructure Investment to Support Housing Growth

Building More Than Just Homes

To make these housing targets feasible, the government is pairing them with large-scale infrastructure investment Australia 2025 plans. This includes upgrades to road networks, suburban rail links, water and sewerage systems, and broadband access in newly zoned areas.

Projects like the Gabba Precinct redevelopment and suburban transport expansions will stimulate housing market activity and support population movement into new developments.

For buyers, these improvements make new communities more attractive. For removalists, they present an evolving landscape of opportunity—and challenge.

Brisbane Removalists is responding to this transformation with targeted moving services regional Australia, expanding its operations to support homebuyers relocating to new housing developments across SE Queensland.

Regional Migration Trends: Why SE QLD Is Booming

The Lifestyle Shift Behind the Policy

Paired with these government initiatives are clear regional migration trends. Data shows a consistent flow of people moving away from major metropolitan centres in favour of regional and outer suburban areas. This shift has only intensified post-election as affordability continues to decline in cities like Sydney and Melbourne.

SE QLD, with its lifestyle appeal and improved infrastructure, has become a prime destination for families, professionals, and retirees alike. With the added incentives introduced through new affordable housing initiatives, first-home buyers are making the move north in greater numbers.

Brisbane Removalists supports this migration through:

  • Local and long-distance relocations

  • Comprehensive packing and unpacking services

  • Furniture dismantling and reassembly

  • Short and long-term secure storage solutions

Whether you’re moving from the Sunshine Coast to Springfield Lakes or from inner Brisbane to a new estate in Beaudesert, our team ensures a seamless experience.

Key Components of the Housing Strategy

A Multi-Faceted Approach to Housing Affordability
  1. Help to Buy Scheme: Offers eligible homebuyers government co-investment of up to 40% of a home’s purchase price, reducing the required deposit to just 2%.

  2. Social and Affordable Housing Pipeline: New builds will be prioritised for essential workers, low-income families, and regional buyers.

  3. Land Release and Rezoning Incentives: Funding has been allocated to fast-track land access for residential development across state growth zones.

  4. Regional Investment: Specific funds are targeting housing shortages in inland and coastal Queensland, reinforcing decentralisation.

Each of these affordable housing initiatives has direct consequences for the residential logistics sector. More relocations mean more demand for experienced, adaptable moving services.

That’s where Brisbane Removalists plays a pivotal role—bridging the gap between government policy and the practical realities of moving.

Brisbane Removalists: Moving with the Market

Services That Support Change

With thousands of new homes planned in SE QLD, our role is not just about moving boxes. It’s about helping individuals and families transition confidently into new phases of life.

Here’s how we’re contributing:

  • Local home removals across Greater Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast

  • Long-distance relocations from southern states into regional QLD

  • Secure storage solutions for clients navigating building delays or staggered settlements

  • Regional delivery logistics for developers needing staged property handovers

We’ve already seen a significant uptick in requests tied directly to government housing programs. For example, retirees downsizing to high-amenity developments in Redland Bay or families accessing shared-equity schemes in Morayfield.

Brisbane Removalists is also partnering with property managers, local councils, and retirement communities to streamline relocation experiences for tenants in newly built estates.

Challenges and Watchpoints in the Years Ahead

More Than Just Construction Timelines

While the promise of these affordable housing initiatives is encouraging, execution will be key.

Some concerns already raised include:

  • Skilled labour shortages, which could delay home delivery targets

  • Environmental impact of accelerated development, particularly near protected areas

  • Pressure on existing infrastructure in areas not yet upgraded

  • Community integration and access to local services in new estates

To combat these, local and state governments must work closely with developers, service providers, and communities. And for those navigating the changes firsthand—buyers, renters, downsizers—having reliable partners like Brisbane Removalists makes all the difference.

Real Story: Moving into a First Home in SE QLD

Government Incentive + Trusted Movers = Success

Meet Leah and Marcus—a young couple who took advantage of the Help to Buy scheme to purchase their first home in Ripley Valley. With a tight timeline between settlement and lease expiry, they needed fast, trustworthy movers.

“We chose Brisbane Removalists because of their regional reputation,” Leah shared. “They packed everything, stored it for five days, and then delivered right on schedule. It was seamless.”

Their story is becoming increasingly common in SE QLD—proof that policy, when matched with practical service, creates real impact.

This company BRISBANE REMOVALISTS is reputable with great reviews but i wanted to warn others - Do NOT confuse this company with BRIS REMOVALISTS who are a complete rip off & scam & I believe they are hoping that people will confuse the 2 companies like me. They have numerous 1 star google reviews all with the same terrible experience, they are late, inexperienced, damage furniture, refuse to unload truck until you pay extiorional amounts (I had a 4.5hr job plus depot to depot travel of 1.5 hours each way & was forced to pay 13 hours plus double the actual km & made up danger fee). They were abusive on the phone & threatening. You have to pay to a personal bank account (S Taylford) not a company, don't accept credit cards, no ABN on any email (& website ABN is a company now deregistered Capital removals). I hope that the other business with similar name
Response from the owner:Hi Collette, it is really sad what happened to you and I hope you were able to recuperate some of this money through Fair Trading. Unfortunately, this is not a one-off event for us. We regularly get phone calls from very upset clients who have read our reviews, googled us to book and have ended up with the wrong company. It is very difficult to do anything about this as we cannot trademark our name as 'Brisbane' and 'Removalists' are too generic. We have also had bad reviews, not meant for us, for this same reason. It is very easy to confuse the two. I am hoping that you were able to get financial recourse from this job as we worked out that you were being charged $650/h in the end based on the hours taken, which is beyond belief. :( Eileen

Very impressed with this company. Head office is all over everything. The two separate teams we had were both excellent. Price very competitive.
Response from the owner:Hi Krystle, thank you for such a lovely shout out! This is great to hear. We do try very hard to do our best for everyone. Glad your move went really well. Enjoy your new home and surroundings. Thanks so much for taking the time to actually write this. I will let the teams know you appreciated them. Sorry we were not able to give you the same team back. Where do I start? Whats one of the most anxious times in life - moving...! Do you know whats not? Entrusting Brisbane Removalists with the move. I've moved (way too) many times in my life - and this was, by far, one of the "best" moves i have done. Alex and Giovanni were outstanding - from the moment they arrived, to when they drove off - nothing was an issue - all strategically taken care of - no bumps, no scratches, no dents nothing (a far sight better than previous where fridges were dented and washing machine trashed without so much as a sorry). What made it 100 times better was their attitude - laughter, fun and legit enjoyed themselves - even for a Saturday morning! Thank you Brisbane Removalists and a MASSIVE thank you Alex and Gio! Chris B
Response from the owner:What a gorgeous review Chris. It was lovely enough that you took the time to ring but to also write this has made my day and I am sure Alex and Gio will be thrilled. I am glad we could make your move full of fun and laughter. I hope you enjoy your new home and that you do not need to move again any time soon - we will of course be happy to help but who needs the stress of moving! Take care Chris - Eileen and the team. :)

I had a move yesterday 31/03/2026 , I had multiple addresses over half of Brisbane. I had 2 really nice people turned up Kevin and Jeff . They were on time , everything was great work. Jeff and Kevin were very polite, could not help me enough. Great work and for me over in short time in peak hour traffic. This is my second move with Brisbane Removalists, I will be using them again.
Response from the owner:Hi Greg, Thanks for the review. Kevin and Jeff will be very happy to see this. We will put them on your upcoming move if we can. Love to hear that the teams are the superheroes we hold them to be. It is a tough job to do day, in day out, but they always do it with a smile. We are very grateful to have such great young men on our teams. We will chat soon. Eileen

I thought the Brisbane Removalists did a great move . The company keeps in touch, first move in a long time I didn't have to chase the movers . The removalists that did the move were, on time, moved quickly and carefully. No breaks or losses , and where finished a lot sooner than I thought it would have taken.
Response from the owner:Good afternoon, Greg, thanks for the lovely review. Glad your small move went perfectly. Always tricky with risky objects but our superheroes did the job! Thanks for taking the time to review us. Eileen and the team.

Had a great experience with the guys from Bris Removalists (shout out to Juan & Sebastien!). They did a great job, were lovely guys & very friendly (& patient lol!). Love that a local Brissy business is being supported & when you call you're speaking to one of the owners (thanks for your help Eileen!). Wouldn't hesitate to use again, thanks BR!

In a word, brilliant, hardworking and knowledgable, did the job, with good humour and a big attention to detail, could not give bigger recommendation of Hallei (may have gotten the spelling wrong but one strong and pleasant individual) and his team mate the ever optimistic and energetic Thomas ... great guys and so was their their helper in the initial upload ... can't recommend them strongly enough ..
Response from the owner:Good morning, William, it is lovely to come into the office with this to start the day. Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. It is really valuable in supporting our business, so we thank you! I will let Javier, Thomas and Jhon know that you appreciated their energy and great attitudes on top of their superpowers! Brisbane Removalists assisted us with our recent office relocation in Hendra, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! As this was my first time organising an office move, I was naturally a little nervous, but the team at Brisbane Removalists made the entire process seamless from start to finish. Eileen supported me through the booking process and ensured every detail was covered. Her knowledge and experience were invaluable, she guided me through considerations I hadn’t even thought of, and highlighted things other companies hadn’t mentioned. I genuinely felt at ease knowing we were in such capable hands. On moving day, we had four fantastic removalists take care of the relocation. A special shoutout to Chris, Kevin, Horhay and Sebastian for their professionalism, hard work and the care they took with our furniture and office equipment. They kept everything running smoothly and made what could have been a stressful day feel effortless. We highly recommend Brisbane Removalists for any move, particularly office relocations. Thank you again to the entire team!
Response from the owner:Hi Brittany, what a lovely review. Thank you for posting this. We do a lot of office moves and they can be tricky in the city with so many rules. Many do not realize this when they book. We always have to look at height restrictions, loading zone rules, building rules for lift use etc. Much better to have all this ironed out before move day so there are no surprises. We are thrilled your move went to plan and that there was no issue parking at the second after all. Very hard to organise from another city on top of that so great job at your end too. It was lovely working with you on this. All the best Brittany. Eileen. Thomas and the team.

Eileen’s team helped us move house and they were fantastic. The three guys were punctual, well organised, incredibly strong, and handled a huge number of boxes with ease. Communication was excellent and nothing was too much trouble, they even helped take a few items for donation and disposal. Really impressed and happy to recommend Brisbane Removalists to anyone needing a reliable and hardworking moving crew.
Response from the owner:Hi Dan, thanks so much for a lovely review. We really appreciate the time and effort as we all know that this is the last thing on your mind when you have just moved home. I will let Seb. Thomas and Jesus know that you have appreciated their hard work. So glad we could help you transition into your new adventure with a little less stress. Happy landing Eileen and the team. :)

This company is amazing! We had a move booked in and unfortunately had to reschedule due to issues with the real estate agency and bond cleaning. They were so helpful and helped us reschedule for another date without any additional costs! Thank you team!!!
Response from the owner:Hi Bree, thank you for your lovely review. It is par for the course to have to reschedule with so many variables with moving. We do it regularly - our planning is a moving tapestry even to the point of sometimes having to find on-the-day solutions for settlements that fall through after uplift. I am glad we could help and that this took away some of your stress. We hope that when the dust settles you can start your new adventure stress-free. Eileen and the team.

We had a tricky move, based on a very steep drive way and also a 3 story town house. Andre and Brad were great, with their infectious attitude and can do approach. Would definitely book again for my next move.
Response from the owner:Thanks for the lovely shout out to the team. Some moves are tougher than others, and that is why we have superheroes! I am glad that they did not lose their fighting spirit! I am sure that you all had fun! Nothing like a challenge to charge one's will. Enjoy your new adventure in your new home. I will pass on your review to the team. Eileen.
