Being up front with your removalists can save you money!
Planning a move is a big job for most, but it is also tricky on our end.
We have to estimate how long your move will take and try and ensure that it goes to plan around other moves on the day.
This is not an easy task and the only way we can get it right is to know as much about what you are moving, and your access.
These 2 components of your move are critical if you want to have a stress-free removal.
Not being up front with your removalists about either of these can cause your move and the move that follows to go pear-shaped.

Why it is important to let us know what you are moving.
Being up front as to where we can park, organizing loading zones, making sure that you have booked the lifts and being informed as to lift time restrictions are essential.
We do not wish to turn up at yours at 7.30 to find we cannot move you until 9.00, due to lift access restrictions between 9-4.
Your job is on the clock from the time we arrive, and that is 2 hours of costs that could be avoided.
Whilst we ask these questions, not everyone is aware of the rules within their apartments when moving. They can be complicated. Most times we have to calculate when to start a move, in order to fit with both the lift restrictions at pickup and drop off.
This is difficult to gauge when we do not have a clear indication of the number of items/boxes being moved and again how complicated or not the access will be.
False information, omissions, lack of due diligence, or simply underestimating your number of items/boxes, can be costly and impact the next move. The more diligent you are, the better it is for you and the next in line.
Why it is important to let us know what you are moving.
We at Brisbane Removalists, despite being very thorough taking down the details, come across this often enough.
We had one this week where the client underestimated the reality of her move.
First, the truck had to park a good distance up the road due to yellow lines in front of the building, the loading zone that was to be organized by the client, was not in existence, and blocking of the lift, despite me requesting this, was not done.
Having to share a lift, walk through a large underground parking place, up a very steep slope to the truck which was some distance up the road, led to a considerable extension on the time we had expected in which to do this job.
It, therefore, made us late for the next client and put pressure on the boys. The client could not understand why the job took 7.5 hours, when our rule of thumb, meant we would have seen this as a possible 6-hour job, given it was a 3-bedroom.
Our men are superheroes but they are not magicians.
Access to both the pick up and drop off locations are important
Letting us know, how far the park or loading zone is from the lifts, if there is a slope, if you have stairs, a tight staircase, need items dismantled, or have peculiar objects such as unmentioned arcade machines, worm farms, garden beds, over-sized objects, pianos, or technical items that were assembled on site and are now expected to be brought downstairs in one piece when this is not possible, is vital to know when booking.
By not being up front with your removalsts by these type of omissions, can cause delays or worse still, take up enormous space in the truck and cannot be stacked.
This could mean, that we can no longer take all your items in one load. You can imagine the issue with this if you are moving up to the Sunshine Coast or down to the Gold Coast or further afield on long-haul trips. If we know in advance, we will send you the right-sized truck.
Knowledge is power and, in this case, it can save you money but it will certainly help us to better organize our bookings, which means plainer sailing for those after you. One day, this might be you on the other end waiting impatiently for the boys to get there.
