The name of the game is a safe no damage removal job!
The safety of our staff, clients and the general public is our number 1 priority. No damage to property, building and infrastructure is paramount for all of our teams on all moves.
This is achieved by using highly qualified and highly trained removalists. Having fully fitted out specialist removal trucks is also a key.
These trucks have all of the necessary heavy-duty blankets, trolleys, pads, and straps required. Tool kits for dismantling & reassembling furniture items are a standard in all of our trucks.
All our trucks are purpose-built with tie-off points. Different from many other companies that use containers.
These containers have no timber floor or framework that allows items to be safely tied off. Meaning items move around and can be damaged.

An actual on what can happen if use “cheap hourly rate removalists”
Some extra tips to help you move safely and move cheap.
- Clear all obstructions.
To help you with an affordable removal and of course a no-damage removal, clear the doorways and driveways. Remove all trip hazards like doormats or children’s toys so there are no trip hazards along the way. Store these in boxes or move them aside.
Clean or remove any mould off driveways, pathways, or stairs. This will avoid any chance the removalist can slip and cause an injury to themselves or damage to your possessions.
Extremely important especially if there is any rain around during your move.
Ensure if there are small children in the house during the move, they are kept amused and not running around. A good idea if they have to be at home is to arrange a babysitter to keep them amused.
Maybe either mum or dad could head on over to the area your new place is in and take some time with the kids to explore your new surroundings.
We have a great article written a little while ago that covers lots about this subject with helpful hints. Moving with kids – survival guide for parents
Move or restrain any pets so they do not become a trip hazard or worse they or the removalists sustain an injury. All part of the no damage removal focus.
- Check for easy access.
Consider where the truck can park, the closer the truck can park to the access the shorter the walking distance. This will make it faster safer and therefore cheaper to move.
If the truck is required to park in a shared driveway it is extremely important to notify the other tenants or neighbours and building management prior to the moving day.
Check for access along passageways and door opening sizes this is especially important in apartment or multi-tenanted buildings.
It is very embarrassing not to mention expensive and frustrating if the sofa or large side by side fridge you own won’t fit through the doorway or via the internal stairs in the new residence you are moving into.
Thankfully, tool kits are a standard in all of our trucks. This allows our teams to dismantle beds, tables etc. for areas with tight access or stairs.
Then again when the access is not fantastic, you will be extremely happy you hired professional removalists for the job.
- Use the appropriate packing box.
More helpful tips for you.
If possible use new corrugated packing boxes, make sure the bottom of the box is reinforced with packing tape.
Use large tea chest style cartons for large bulky lightweight items. In these, you can pack clothes, lightweight electrical items, toys and pots and pans for example.
Kitchen and heavier type items should be packed in medium or book cartons. Cutlery, crockery, china, books and magazines and the like.
The simple way to move clothes is by packing them straight into a porta robe.
Try to avoid overpacking all boxes or cartons with heavy items. Or, using boxes that are so large they become a hazard as they are so much more difficult to move.
Breakages then become a real problem. Not to mention this will also certainly slow the moving process costing you money. Not good if you want an affordable removal and a no-damage removal.
Keep all packed box weight under 20kg, over this, you should clearly label as “HEAVY”.
- Dispose of any unwanted or unused items.
The basic rule is don’t pay to move what you don’t need or use. In the time leading up to the move sell any clothes or footwear you don’t wear. Especially any children’s clothing or footwear they have grown out of.
Household appliances or furniture you no longer use or will not fit or suit the new décor. Sell the kids toys they no longer play with or have outgrown.
Gumtree, Facebook, garage sales and others are a great way to do this. Get the kids involved and share the profits with them. Use the money raised to offset the moving cost.
Affordable removal for houses, units, or apartments
House moves as you can imagine, are something we do every day. From small 1-2-bedroom cottages all the way to large 6-bedroom multi-level houses.
Small cottage moves usually average out at around the 4-hour mark. Large house moves usually involve multiple staff and can take up to 16-18 hours.
Unit or apartment moves as they are often called today are also performed every day.
Everything from relocating a client within the same complex, small 1-bedroom units to large penthouse suits.
Its all about the planning. Before commencing any job simple things like access at each location, parking and distance between locations are discussed with the team.
This then determines, timing, truck size, number of removalists assigned and any specialised tooling or needs.
Such as a piano trolley or having to notify the client prior to arrival for access. Arranging for the pads to be installed into the lift of the apartment the client is moving to or from.
