Tips to help you move safe move cheap
The name of the game is a safe no damage move!
Clear all obstructions.
To help you move safe move cheap clear the doorways and driveways and remove all trip hazards like doormats or children’s toys so there are no trip hazards along the way. Store these in boxes or move them aside.
Clean or remove any mould off driveways, pathways or stairs. This will avoid any chance the removalist can slip and cause an injury to themselves or damage to your possessions.
Ensure if there are small children in the house during the move they are kept amused and not running around. A good idea if they have to be at home is to arrange a baby sitter to keep them amused. Maybe either mum or dad could head on over to the area your new place is in and take some time with the kids to explore your new surroundings. We have a great article written a while ago that covers lots about this subject with helpful hints. Move or restrain any pets so they do not become a trip hazard or worse they or the removalists sustain an injury.
The article is called “Moving with Kids – Survival Guide for Parents”.

Organisation can be the key
Check for easy access.
Consider where the truck can park, the closer the truck can park to the access the shorter the walking distance. This will make it faster safer and therefore cheaper to move.
If the truck is required to park in a shared driveway it is extremely important to notify the other tenants or neighbours and building management prior to the moving day.
Check for access along passageways and door opening sizes this is especially important in apartment or multi-tenanted buildings. It is very embarrassing not to mention expensive and frustrating if the sofa or large side by side fridge you own won’t fit through the doorway or via the internal stairs in the new residence you are moving into.
Use the appropriate packing box.
Use new if possible corrugated packing boxes, make sure the bottom of the box is reinforced with packing tape.
Try to avoid over packing boxes with heavy items or using boxes that are so large they become a hazard as they are so much more difficult to move, this will also certainly slow the moving process. Keep the packed box weight under 20kg, over this, you should clearly label as “HEAVY”. We offer a great professional and secure packing service if you would prefer for us to do it for you. You can read more about it here!
Dispose of any unwanted or unused items.
The basic rule is don’t pay to move what you don’t need or use. In the time leading up to the move sell any clothes or footwear you don’t wear, especially any children’s clothing or footwear they have grown out of, household appliances or furniture you no longer use or will not fit or suit the new decor, sell any of the kid’s toys and use the money raised to offset the moving cost.
