Moving Checklist - Things to Remember when Moving.
Running a removalist company allows us to see just how stressful moving can be – but it doesn’t have to be that way. Be sure to use a “things to remember when moving” checklist to help organise your move.
Brisbane Removalists, pride ourselves in providing a service that constantly exceeds our clients’ expectations.
We value honesty, attention to detail, and efficiency and have a genuine desire to be the very best when it comes to customer service.
So, whether you are moving to or from the Gold Coast, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast or within the state, we will make sure we have all the necessary information to ensure a successful and stress-free move.
The right information allows us to allocate the right sized trucks, equipment, time and manpower for the job.

Information to consider for your "Things to remember when moving" Checklist
So, what information do we need to know? First of all, it is crucial to know how difficult access is when it comes to parking, height restrictions, or lift restrictions in order to avoid delays.
Delays add to your hourly rate but also have flow-on implications for the next job. The more you let us know, the better we can make this a seamless process.
Here are some things you need to think about.
- Turning up to a job and finding a heavy lift that was not mentioned, can cause problems if only 2 men were allocated and the job now requires 3.
- Not mentioning that you are moving on settlement day, can also be a challenge as many settlements expected to go through at a specific time, are delayed, which can add hours of sitting around time.
Do not forget to research what your policy is regarding lift access. Many apartment buildings do not allow moves to happen before 9 and after 4. You can read more about this in our recently published Google Post here.
Over or underestimating what you have can also be a challenge. Both of these scenarios can jeopardize the next job especially if lift restrictions are involved. You might be that next job!
- Often people provide an inventory. We then allocate the right truck and book other jobs around it, only to find that half the items in the original inventory have already been moved.
This may have cost you endless hours running back and forward, petrol costs and stress, for something that the boys could have done in no time at all, and in one load! It is great to cut costs where you can, but be sure that you actually are, when you do.
Not being prepared on the day: If you are doing your own packing, then allow plenty of time to do it so you are not hindering the moving process. This only adds extra hours to your move.
- If you have been given a second job, then try not to plan anything on the day. It is impossible for us to know exactly how long a first job will take.
Remember, lift access – if slow, inability to park nearby and under-estimation can add more than an hour in a good case scenario, to a normal job. Overestimation can shorten it and we might be knocking on your door a lot earlier than we thought.
Something else to consider adding to your “things to remember when moving” checklist. What will happen to any post that may either already be on its way to you or will be shortly all heading for your old address?
It might be worthwhile arranging with Australia Post for a “redirect” service to be arranged. Here’s a link to the appropriate part of the AusPost website.
So, when moving, try to be as specific as you can, so we can keep on track time-wise. This will save you money in the long run and avoid a lot of stress. We look forward to moving you!
Cheers, Eileen
